To All LJHS Parents & Students:


The purpose of this letter is to provide you with specific details regarding the procedures for our materials exchange that will be taking place this Friday, May 22nd, 2020. This event will take place at the junior high from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with specific times for each grade level. I only ask for your cooperation and patience that will be greatly appreciated throughout this unique process. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (217) 732-3535 or email me at mworkman@lincoln27.net before this Friday and I would be happy to help out in any way.  

We have developed a plan for how your student(s) can return all of their school materials (chromebook, charging cord, text & library books, etc.) to us. In return, each student(s) will receive a bag filled with their personal belongings that were left in lockers (P.E. included) and their report cards. Please do your best to adhere to the following schedule as much as possible: 


Expected Pick-Up Times for Each Grade Level: 


6th Grade: 8:00 a.m-10:00 a.m.


7th Grade: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.


8th Grade: 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.


Pick-Up Day Expectations:


  • All parents & students will need to stay in their vehicles at all times. An LJHS staff member will greet you at your vehicle and facilitate the exchange. 

  • Please be aware that no student or parent will be allowed to enter the building for any reason on this day. If you must enter the building for some reason, then arrangements will need to be made with me at a later date.

  • Students must return all school property at this time.(chromebook, charger, library books, text books, athletic/activity team uniforms, etc.)  

  • Student lockers have all been cleaned out and labeled. Any medicine and/or  materials will be returned to you. Please be aware that numerous items were left in our lost & found before the pandemic and I will be sending these items off to Goodwill by Friday, June 5th. Please make arrangements with me before this date to enter the building and look through these items if needed.  

  • Keep in mind that if this scheduled time does not work for whatever reason, please feel free to come to the junior high at a later time/date that is more convenient. I will be in the office until the middle of June from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • The schedules exchange times are staggered to alleviate potential traffic concerns which leads to………..


Pick-Up Day Driving Instructions:


  • Do not stop or park your vehicle on Broadway Street for any reason. The entrance doors and office area of the junior high will be locked.  

  • Vehicles will be expected to use the alley behind the junior high for the exchange. Vehicles will only be allowed to to enter the alley from Ottawa Street. You will not be allowed to enter the alley from Kankakee Street.

  • Vehicles will proceed to the back cafeteria doors (the location will be marked) and stop where they will then be greeted by a LJHS staff member to perform the materials exchange. Once completed, vehicles will exit the alley onto Kankakee Street.
