Edgar Allan Poe Headliners

Edgar Allan Poe Headliners
Edgar Allan Poe, an American author and poet, was the topic of Mrs. Workman's 8th Grade Language Arts Classes recently. While reading his biography, students learned about his tragic life, mysterious death, and other oddities that surround this 19th century writer. Students read Poe's macabre tale of "The Tell Tale Heart" and read Poe's poem about the narrator's lost love and torchered soul in his famous narrative poem "The Raven." They learned about and discussed Poe's techniques of creating a masterfully anxious and scary mood for his readers. Students then wrote a newspaper feature story on why Poe is still famous today in 2018.  As a way of collaborating, students discussed and responded to each other on their opinions of Edgar Allan Poe's works on Google Classroom. Finally, they collaborated on the creation of Headliner Videos on Edgar Allan Poe's life and works.  For your enjoyment, please take a look here of students' videos on the life and times of America's treasured author and poet, the one, the only, EDGAR ALLAN POE.
